Many elevator gears from older construction years have motors whose mechanics can still work reliably for many years. However, the original motor (single or three-phase) is often no longer up-to-date or difficult to replace. Outdated control and regulation concepts require a frequency-controlled drive. A motor retrofit enables exactly that: The existing machine remains, the motor is modernized.

FUKA produces and delivers complete, ready-to-install retrofit assemblies for this purpose.

Your Concept: "Assembly off – Assembly on"

A 1:1 motor replacement is rarely possible with old drives: Modern motors are often more compact and have different flange or foot dimensions. That's why the retrofit concept is used.

  • New, frequency-controlled electric motor (optionally procured by us)
  • FUKA adapter plate for adaptation to the existing machine
  • Matching original coupling or new coupling adaption
  • Complete mechanical coordination for installation space, flange pattern and shaft position

The motor only exchanges the unit on site: old motor with its connection – new motor with new connection – connect. Complex adaptation work in the machine room is eliminated. The principle is proven in elevator modernization because adapter and coupling solutions avoid mismatches and significantly simplify the replacement.

Project Planning & Design by FUKA

Each motor retrofit is designed system-specifically. We consider among other things:

Existing machine type and shaft/handwheel geometry
Rated load, rope guidance, transmission ratio and operating point
Desired speed and control philosophy
Installation space and assembly conditions
Electrical boundary conditions (e.g. voltages, protection classes)

This ensures that motor, coupling and adapter fit mechanically cleanly and the new drive works optimally in frequency operation.
