Torsten Fuka on the "Major League Elevator" podcast

Alexandra and Martin Reichl, managing directors of UNS GmbH, host "Major League Elevator", a podcast featuring leaders from the elevator industry. In episode 74 they spoke with Torsten Fuka, Managing Director of Rudolf Fuka GmbH. The conversation runs for just over an hour. It is recorded in German.
What the episode covers
- how leadership passes on in a family business founded in Cologne-Ehrenfeld in 1924
- how a comment on LinkedIn turned into business in North America, and what the New York brake code has to do with it
- why FUKA manufactures replacement components for makes that officially disappeared from the market long ago
- how AI is used in the company: local models for sensitive data, and people who check every result
- why the in-house training workshop was rebuilt from scratch
"I have no idea what we will be doing in 20 years"
The line comes in response to whether the next generation might build robots instead of drive pulleys. It continues: "The main thing is that we do something." The company only entered the elevator industry in the 1960s — before that it built machinery for industry in Cologne. That something else will come along again is taken for granted; what it will be is not.
