Apprentice Workshop at Fuka: Investing in Training and the Skilled Workforce of Tomorrow
Rudolf Fuka GmbH is setting a clear signal for the future: by building a dedicated apprentice workshop at our Cologne site, we are making a targeted investment in the training of young skilled workers in mechanical engineering.
A recent look behind the scenes shows what is currently happening at Fuka – and why this development goes far beyond a standard investment in machinery.
New Machines as the Foundation for Modern Training
We have recently received new conventional machines, including a lathe, a milling machine, and a pillar drill.
What may initially appear to be a standard investment in our machinery is, in fact, a key element of our training strategy. These machines form the foundation of our new apprentice workshop – a dedicated space for structured, hands-on training in mechanical engineering.
Training at Fuka: From Shortage to Opportunity
A few years ago, we made a conscious decision to place greater emphasis on vocational training in the industrial sector. At that time, it was not easy to find motivated apprentices.
Today, the situation has changed significantly:
We receive a multiple of applications and are now able to select candidates carefully – and, most importantly, offer young people real prospects in a future-oriented profession.
In doing so, we actively contribute to securing skilled labor in the industry while strengthening our own long-term competitiveness.
Dedicated Apprentice Workshop: More Space, More Focus, Higher Quality
Until now, training has been closely integrated into daily production and took place in a limited area using existing machines.
With the new apprentice workshop, we are taking the next step:
- More space for training
- Dedicated machines for targeted learning
- Clear structure and stronger focus on training content
- Improved conditions for developing technical skills
This creates the ideal environment for high-quality training as an industrial mechanic.
Hands-On and Collaborative: Apprentices Help Shape Their Workshop
A special aspect of this project:
Our apprentices are actively involved in building the workshop.
They help shape their own learning environment and gain practical experience from day one. This not only strengthens technical skills but also promotes responsibility and teamwork.
Training as a Key to the Future
As a company in mechanical engineering and elevator components, we are convinced:
Training our own skilled workforce is a decisive success factor.
With the new apprentice workshop, we are making a targeted investment in:
- the development of young talent
- the quality of our training programs
- the long-term availability of skilled workers
- the future of our company
